Aubrey

We are watching Toy Story 3, and Aubrey is reciting the lines and phrases along. I can't believe she watches it so much that she knows.

Well, she's had this new habit of stuffing random things in her shirt. Could be lego blocks, toy cars, food, ear plugs... anything she can stuff. Is this a female trait?!

Boys and their guns

Gerard: There's a gun in your shirt, mama
Me: (pretends to be hurt from a pretend gunshot that never happened)
Me: Ugghh!! Aubrey! Aubrey! Help me, Gerard shot me! Aubrey! (Fall on pillows)
Aubrey: (ignores my cry)
Gerard: It's just a game mama!

Father's Day

Now I remember what I wanted to write about: Father's Day.

Ftaher's Day 2011 was last Sunday, and it was well-spent. The four of us started the day with breakfast, and packed up for a picnic at Stern Grove. Live music, picnic, family time.... you know, important things.

We bought food from Safeway on Taraval, then found parking 2 blocks from the grove and walked it. Once down the entry path, we got to the concert area and saw that it was quite packed. We hiked up the slopes towards the back of the theater, and I'm telling you it wasn't an easy hike. There were people packed everywhere! Even up on the slopes. Under the trees. Looked like there were picnic camps set up in the darkest area of the slopes too. I had Aubrey carried in one arm, a backpack of their day stuff, her doll and the kids' sweaters in my other arm. I needed a third arm to hold on to trees to avoid a fall! Well, that was a really uncalled for hike, as I was wearing the wrong shoes. But at the time, we didn't realize there was an easier way to get to the other side. We almost set camp on the slope but I argued my way out of it as I didn't think it was safe for the kids at all.

So we found our way down and saw that there was a flat grass area on the other side of the theater that was only half-full. We settled there, the kids were hungry enough for lunch, and we had a very kickback day. The park got even fuller as the day went. Though that area couldn't see the concert, we heard the music just fine. Aubrey started her dance while Gerard was bored out of his mind (he wanted a playground) but to his credit, he was behaved and didn't throw a tantrum. I took Aubrey out for a short walk to see the band, and we saw a little bit of them. She wanted to see more (kept crying to me "band! band!") so I tried to get in the amphitheatre but by then, the band was done and the next one was getting ready to go up. We didn't really stick around for that so we walked back to our picnic.

We stuck around for a couple of hours, then left early to avoid the foot traffic out of the park. Since we were parked so close to Stonestown mall, we decided to move the car to its lot and got some dessert at Haagen Daazs inside. The kids were so well behaved that they deserved the treats.

After the dessert, I got a call from my dad that there was to be a family Father's Day dinner in a couple of hours. I had no appetite for dinner because my frozen mocha drink filled me up. Since we still had some time to kill before then, we decided to drive the kids around so they could nap. We ended up at Fort Funston where they continued to sleep in the car. Egan wanted some shut eye too, but I couldn't resist getting out of the car and have some "me" time so I went for a walk. Had the camera with me so I took some pictures, watched some people fly their radio-controlled toys over the cliffs, and basked in the awesome San Francisco early evening weather. I walked back to the car and the kids had just woken up. We took them out to see the ocean and the hang gliders that were being packed away for the day. Aubrey was so amazed by the radio-controlled bird that she wanted a real bird and so she kept asking for one.

As the dinner time came to a close, we went back to the car and headed to Chevy's in San Bruno to meet everyone. I thought I wouldn't eat much but I ordered a fajita burrito. Well I didn't eat much! Two bites in and I had to put it in the to-go box. It was a nice dinner, and it was a nice way to end the day.

I will try to blog right now....

Let's see.... I'll make this quick and bulleted. I'm not really in the mood to write but I can't let so many achievements pass without documentation!!

-Aubrey loves to sing. She sings "Elmo's World" by rolling her tongue with L's then "Elmo sunggggg." She also loves singing "Dumb Dog" from Annie.
-Aubrey is officially getting potty trained. She's started by herself just 3 days ago by asking to be in the bathroom, and when asked if she wants to use the potty she said "yyyeeaahhh" and proceeded to pee. It's been 3 days and 4 potty opportunities: 3 peepees and 1 poopoo.
-Aubrey loves to count, but she tends to start at 3. Although she counts past 10. I've heard her say 11, 12... and it trails off.
-Aubrey is showing signs that she has shopping in her blood. Our last trip to the mall had her running into one of those girly stores, where she grabbed the heels displayed at the front. Then she tried grabbing the sunglasses and at that point I had to drag her out of the store. She cried.
-Aubrey is almost completely weaned off the paci and bottle. She hardly asks for either of them.

-Gerard just got another mohawk, and grandpa hated it and got mad at me for allowing it.
-Gerard is helping papa with RC building. Though he is more making a mess and touching things he's not supposed to. But he asks a lot of questions about the car and the parts and the tools too.
-Gerard still continues to suck his fingers (and rebels about it) and refuses to use the potty. Hmmm?!! Boys!!!

-Both kids continue to fight I am theirs alone. When he says to me "you're mine mama" best you believe Aubrey butts in and claims "mine" and forces her way into my arms or lap.
-The other day Aubrey kept grabbing Gerard's toys off his hands, and they bickered. Finally, Aubrey took a toy and ran to the kitchen shouting "LEAVE ME" as Gerard chased her.

So it's mostly an Aubrey blog :) Rest-assured, both kids are just fine and equally stressing me out. But more importantly, they are equally loving and I love both of them no blog can ever explain.
Been really really busy and tired lately. I want to update this blog with some funny new things lately but I just can't bring myself to it right now! Hope I remember next week.

I would like to use this blog more than Facebook, but I have easier access to FB. Sucks!

Conversation

Wife: Which Walgreens are you going to?
Husband: The closer one.
Wife: Well if you want to get me a California Whopper.....
Husband: I am not getting you a California Whopper
Wife: WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO MUCH!?

(True story)

Funny things (lately)

1. Aubrey blowing cool a pot of boiling hotdogs on the stove (I didn't tell her it was hot, I was just checking on them while I had her in my arms)

2. Aubrey likes to ballet dance

3. Gerard is in a "I'm-a-baby" phase, he wants to do everything like he's a baby. For ex: He would wear Aubrey's girly jackets, but only because they're "baby" Aubrey's stuff, not because they are girly. He sometimes asks to wear HER diapers, or use her paci, is always sitting in the bouncer, etc.

4. Is it funny that Gerard likes to make shooting noises while finger shooting at cars?! He is pretty corrupt with the word "idiot" when it comes to other drivers. He sometimes senses that I'm thinking another driver is being an idiot, so he'll say "freaking idiot!" (sometimes it sounds like "f*cking idiot") and shoot at the car. Of course, we tell him it's not necessary to say the word he says before "idiot."

"MINE!"

Aubrey has been in a very possessive phase lately.

Funny thing is, she's possessive of me!! Whenever she sees Gerard cuddling with me in bed, or laying on my tummy, she'll try to shove him off and declare "MINE!" When she sees her dad hugging or kissing me, she'll do the same. But with him, she stares first and lets off a confused look before declaring that I am hers.

She is a sweety pie and I love her to bits. Even if she's also in a spill-everything phase!
